LG the Korean Technology giant has designed a new floppy screened epaper. The prototype device is made at an whooping 19” the same as the size of a newspaper, this makes it the world’s largest. This epaper uses the ultra thin metal foil/electronic ink microcapsule display technology. It is very flexible and durable, as there’s no rigid glass screen to break.
The company’s prototype model is viewed by a plain old reflective light, which allows the device to be maintained at a thickness of mere 0.3mm and weighs 130 grams. Because of this the device does not require much power for its performance. The product does not contain any processor, although presumably it could periodically be connected to a computer to reload its content.
The company has not yet revealed the release date for this for this tree-saving, newsprint-industry-killing product.
